Vanguard Lounge on Fremont Street is a place to relax and unwind in downtown Las Vegas. The lounge has a cool, modern vibe with a touch of urban edge.
When you walk in, a long white croc-embossed booth is a good place to grab a drink and chat with friends. A large glass garage door opens up to let in fresh air and a small patio is set up with barstools and tables. Back inside, a few more bar tables line the walls with matching white croc stools. A DJ booth houses a DJ Wednesday - Saturday nights, 9 a.m. - 2 a.m. Vanguard's decor is simple, sleek and on the smaller side with 2,000 square feet of space.
The owners of Vanguard Lounge, Andrew and Jennifer Wheatley, have created an intimate neighborhood hideaway. The space is great for having a beer with a few friends or with your special someone. The music pumps through the speakers, but you can still hear the person next to you, so no sign language is required.
In addition to a full bar, Vanguard has a few carefully crafted exotic cocktails you should try. The "Corpse Reviver #2" uses exotic ingredients like persimmon-infused gin and smoked thyme-infused lemon. The "Fig-ure of Speech" includes sage and maplewood bacon-infused bourbon and house blackberry fig jam -- you get the idea. The long bar toward the back of the narrow space is where to place your drink order.
The best part about the Vanguard is it is truly a unique spot, not only to downtown, but to Vegas as a whole. The energy, good music and neighborhood bar feel make it a special place to hang out for both tourists and locals alike.
